Coaching vs therapy

Therapy focuses on the WHY. We examine long standing patterns, often from childhood. Therapy focuses a lot on the past-which can be very helpful when resolving trauma-but it’s easy to get stuck there in the past.

Coaching focuses on the NOW. We identify a problem or a goal, and then make a step-by-step action plan to get you from where you are to where you want to be.

Therapy is reflective. Therapeutic goals are general and vague. Therapists are discouraged from giving direct advice.

Coaching is proactive. Coaching goals are specific. Plus you a step by step PLAN.

In my coaching practice, I use all my therapeutic skills-I can’t help it. I have 20+ years of clinical expertise.

But, I don’t allow my coaching clients to sit in their problems. And that includes YOU if you choose to work with me.

How can I help you as a woman in midlife ?

The message we get is that by your 40th birthday- you better have your whole life all figured out. Your career should be rocking. Your relationship better be solid. You better be on the trajectory of cruising towards retirement safe, snug, on autopilot with a couple of mil in your 401K. You better have all of that AND LOOK GOOD. And if you don’t ? You are out of luck. There is no more time for exploration, growth, opportunities or expansion.

AND that my friend, is a boatload of BS !

As someone who never managed to color in the lines-when I hit my 40s, I was unprepared.

Several rapid fire life events knocked me on my butt:

Perimenopause kicked in bringing with it severe anxiety and panic attacks.

I followed love half way across the country, and left behind almost everyone I knew.

I bought my first home.

My mother got very ill, and died.

I got diagnosed with the beginnings of ovarian cancer and underwent a radical hysterectomy.

I was stuck in a job I hated, anxious about the changes I saw happening to my body, overwhelmed by managing the care of my aging, verbally abusive father (who also lived in a 1000 miles away) and who clearly had the beginnings of dementia.

Oh and there was a pandemic.

These back to back experiences ushered in waves of panic, self doubt, despair and grief.

It took several radical shifts and a lot of mindset work-but at 50+ I am TRUELY the happiest I’ve ever been.

And I want that for you too.

And for all your friends.

a one time 90 minute 1:1 coaching experience:

This offering is for you if you are struggling with a specific life area. You feel stuck and need guidance. Think of it as a spiritual shot of expresso. In our 90 minute one-time session we will:

Focus Together we uncover your blocks and figure out what you truly desire.

Shift: With purposeful, guided exploration, new solutions are revealed.

Transcend: At the conclusion of our work together, you will have a clear, concise plan of action that actually feels good and is achievable.

We will schedule a 20 minute, follow up call the next month to make sure that you have kept your commitment to yourself.

12 weeks 1:1 coaching package:

This offering is for you if you are struggling with multiple midlife challenges. Whether you are struggling in your identity, your career, your changing body (and how to dress it !), caring for your aging parents, feeling disconnected from your community or spiritually-or all of the above ! Together, we will uncover solutions.

Over the course of 3 months, we will meet every other week for an hour. I will offer you guidance, practical tools, and a safe, supportive space to rediscover your dreams and explore your challenges. We will create a personalized plan, tailored to your needs, that empowers you to thrive in this transformative phase of life.

Between sessions, you will have my support through Voxer and will receive a weekly email of helpful resources, to-do reminders, exercises and random drops of joy.
